Refresh (jewel augmentation)

Description

A mysterious gem with great potential, crafted by the artisans of the Sunderguard.  This jewel taps into the power of the weave surrounding heroes in combat to replenish spellcasting power.  Adventurers are limited to 3 different equipped jewel augmentations.

When rolling initiative and at the start of each round of combat, roll dice for a chance to restore spell slots.

Details

Increasing the level of this jewel increases the number of dice you roll or changes what type of dice you roll (increasing the probability of restoring a spell slot).  Gain a restorative charge by rolling a 1.  For each charge, you can either increase the level of the spell slot restored or restore multiple spell slots of lower levels.  For example, if you roll three 1s and thus have three charges, you can choose to restore one level 3 spell slot, three level 1 spell slots, or one level 2 spell slot and one level 1 spell slot.

Unused charges accumulate while still in combat, allowing a spellcaster to build up enough charges to restore higher level spell slots over the course of several rounds.

Upgrades

Upgrading this jewel primarily requires fire magicite.  (1 fire magicite = 10 fire gems = 100 fire stones)

At level 1, roll 1d10.

level 2 : 2d10 - requires 1 fire magicite

level 3 : 3d10 - 2 fire magicite

level 4 : 3d8 - 3 fire magicite, 1 wind magicite, 1 water magicite

level 5 : 4d8 - 5 fire magicite

level 6 : 5d8 - 7 fire magicite

level 7 : 5d6 - 9 fire magicite, 2 wind magicite, 2 water magicite

level 8 : 6d6 - 11 fire magicite

level 9 : 7d6 - 13 fire magicite

level 10 : 8d6 - 15 fire magicite
