They remain useful, if barely so. The domination spell will require some refinement if it is to be applied on any intelligent species, but test subjects continue to be readily available. The halfling child should be an easier mind to crack than the dragon, certainly. But once I have the spell master, all shall bend to my will.
A final passage reads:
Something is broken. I am unsure what has changed, but the gnolls appear restless. I will need to reapply the domination spell. I'll use what insight I've gained from the halfling, and see if the modifications improve their obedience.
